What program would my child be in?
If your swimmer can swim 25m (1 width) of the pool either on their front or back without any fear of the deep end, he/she is ready for swim club! A lot of our swimmers have started as early as 5 or 6 years old and then there are some that don’t start until they are 11 or 12. It doesn’t matter how old they are, just as long as they are comfortable in the water. If you are unsure about your child’s abilities you can bring your child to be assessed by the coaches. They have the final say about what levels the children with swim in or if they are ready to start swim club.
What is the development program?
This is an introduction program for the very new swimmers. Usually these swimmers are under 6 and have shown swimming ability in lessons. For families who are unsure if they want to join the club, this may be the program to start with.
What kind of commitment to practices do we need to do?
Our practices are scheduled Monday-Friday, from May 3rd to the middle of August. The level of commitment is up to you but the more they attend the better they will become. Speak with your coach on your intention for the summer. For example, if your swimmer is in dance, let the coaches know to expect they will be attending more limited practices for May and June.
My son/daughter plays baseball/dance/hockey etc, can we choose the time for practice?
Yes. There is some flexibility available, but keep in mind coaches have to schedule over 80 swimmers in a short amount of time and groups are created based on ability level and age. Swimmers are put in groups that they will best develop in.
What about competition? Do we have to go to all of the meets?
Again this commitment is up to you. Families may choose to do none, some or all of the swim meets. It is up to you as to how involved you are interested in becoming. This is a competitive swim club so we are working towards competitive swim strokes, but swim meets are not mandatory, just a lot of fun!
Is there a reduced rate if we can only swim for 2 months?
Yes. You may pay by month. See the fee guide when available for 2011 season.
My 15+ daughter/son swam for many years but because of school and work cannot swim as much as before, is there a program for them?
Yes, our very successful fitness program is open for these swimmers. Please refer to the registration tab.
